SWIBiology atlas
Initial collection · Biology atlas
Eight biological examples. Each connects observation, mechanism and an experiment for your own agent swarm.
- Memory · Linepithema humile
Ants / Shared memory
How can agents make progress without repeating the same research?
- Decisions · Apis mellifera
Honeybees / Collective decisions
How do you distinguish agent agreement from a correct decision?
- Communication · Sturnus vulgaris
Starlings / Sparse communication
How can a growing swarm keep communication from consuming the work?
- Organization · Isoptera · TERMES
Termites / Building with local rules
How can many agents build one product without conflicting work?
- Adaptation · Physarum polycephalum
Physarum / Adaptive networks
How should a swarm's communication graph change with experience?
- Decisions · Collective motion · Couzin model
Fish schools / Informed minorities
Where should an expensive or stronger model sit in the swarm?
- Organization · Vibrio harveyi
Bacterial communities / Threshold-triggered action
When is there enough evidence to trigger an expensive next step?
- Communication · Photinus carolinus
Fireflies / Local synchronization
When should asynchronous agents bring their outputs together?
